The Lent Post 2016
In keeping with my tradition, it's Lent and I'm happy about a season of reflection and sobriety. Huh. Sobriety. That's not what I'm tackling this year.
Last year I worked on expanding my spirituality by going to Mass every day. It was awesome. It was tough. If you're anything like me, you get up and GO every morning. Starting my day, dropping my kids off, and then easing back the throttle to sit in faithful contemplation for an hour was super challenging. So challenging I'm not even sure I could do it this year (wimp!) I *am* reading Miracle Morning soon though, so maybe a daily reflection type thing?
Yes. I'm committing to that. Some sort of daily reflection, first thing in the morning. Second thing in the morning, after the noise-bombs leave. :)
Also on a self-absorbed front: I've been all kinds of wrapped up in myself lately, but God has provided me some unexpected opportunities to serve others. I've ended up working with 3 different buyers who are desperate for housing, limited funding, and just making ends meet to support their families. Not your ideal buyer. I've managed to find 2 of them good properties, although we haven't gotten contracts yet, and I'm hoping to be able to help all 3 of them get into houses soon. The houses they love need work, of course, and I feel like God is maybe using my knowledge and unconventional thinking to help them. And let me tell you, it's not been an easy ride so far. So if this is God's will, I'm happy to be His instrument even though I'm maybe grumbling just a teensy tiny bit...
