The Move

December:  After 4 years in Florida, we were nearing the end of our 3-5 timeline to move back to PA. The goal is to be closer to our parents so our kids know them as real people (And not bi-annual visitors). The job and house hunt began at leisurely pace.

Early February:  The Hunts stalled after the first week, although I continued trying to persuade my parents to build a smaller addition to their house (for them) and let us buy their main house.  My selling skills are getting better....

McD comes to visit with a potential life path that would begin next year.  I have 3 rehab properties on the market and no end in sight.  We decide to stay in Florida for another 12 months.

Late February:  The real estate market goes crazy and I put all 3 properties under contract in 1 week.  In the same vein, we realize our house is worth about $30k more than anticipated if we can get it snapped up in this feeding frenzy.  With my investments freeing up and a potential quick house sale on the table, we consider our options.  If we are going to leave, all the loose ends seem to be tying themselves up pretty nicely.  Selling our wonderful little house and moving my kids, then moving them again in 12 months seems rough.  If we're going to rip this band-aid off, I think the best option is to do it quick instead of prolonging the strangeness.

There are a few contingencies.  (1) That our house sells for that amount.  If it doesn't go quick (4-6 weeks?), then we'll take it off the market and reevaluate.  Unless (2) Matt gets a sweet job in PA.  There is at least one on the table that sounds pretty good, but who knows what will happen.

Either way, we're here until at least June 2nd when the school year ends.  I plan on enjoying every minute with our friends here, and hope they forgive us for this insane life change.  And yes, I know it snows up there.
