Back in the game

I'm starting to feel like I'm getting a handle on my life again - not just treading water.  Feels GOOOOOOOD.  Por ejemplo - My children have both had at least 2 baths this week.  When that number falls below 2 (ummm, like the time when it was "Unknown"), I'm definitely struggling.  Also, I've started pulling together the interior decoration scheme of my house.  Which means I'm moving out of the Boxes!  Boxes!  Boxes! phase.  Things have been (mostly) placed in their appropriate rooms and now I need to systematically go through and organize.  Pretty much all our family is descending on Florida next weekend, so I'm wondering if my mom will attack my wall art collection again.  When Eve was born she came down for a few days and hung all my stuff on the walls at the apartment.  That was nice.

I've gone on a home accessory shopping binge (mainly with Overstock.com), which includes 2 sets of gorgeously luxurious sheets, a duvet cover set, and a light weight comforter, 2 sets of window blinds, and a nice large rug for the kid living room.  I have to digress about sheets for a minute.  3 weeks ago I picked up 2 of the cheapest Queen size sheet sets I could find at Walmart.  They were like $30 each.  The quality was so bad that I woke up literally chafed all over.  My arms, my back, my face.  It took me a day or 2 to realize what was causing it.  So then I went on Overstock and got some Egyptian cotton 420 threadcount sheets for $40.  I'm now kicking myself for the $60 I totally wasted at Walmart.

And another digression - I just went to the website to snag a picture for my blog, and found that the rug is now $100 CHEAPER.  The nice customer service people at rugsusa.com are refunding the difference now that I called.  Score!

I bought hanging flower baskets.  I lured the guy mowing my neighbors yard into mowing mine for $20.  (Don't have a mower yet!)  I actually COOKED a meal last night, and didn't just throw together hamburger helper.  (Ok, it was only enchiladas, but still - it required the oven so that's something.)  Work is picking up again and I'm excited.  I feel like I've been a good employee lately, which is sometimes hard when you're in a home office.

This weekend, we have NO plans.  Or at least, no plans with a timeline.  We bought Rustoleum's Countertop and Cabinet transformations kits (like $300) and we're going to see if that makes our kitchen look a little bit more livable until an actual renovation is in the budget.  I've reserved the right to hate the blue color I bought for the backsplash.  I'm on a total blue kick lately and may have gone a bit wild.  Matt definitely hates it :)

And that's where I am.  Life is good. :)
