Here we are!
(an excerpt from an email)
I feel like we've dropped off the face of the earth. I guess it's only been a week, but it's been an insane week for us, which makes it feel like months. :) We got here last weekend. (Matt and Ryan drove down and arrived on Sat, Brynna and I on Sunday) I dropped McD off at the airport on Monday and then headed straight to an OB appt, Matt had to work. Our stuff arrived on Tuesday, which was an all day event. I spent Weds checking out daycares for Brynna. Thursday (and pretty much every night) was spent unpacking. Friday I had another doc appt/ultrasound where we discussed big babies. Maybe you'll get a kick out of this lack of accuracy - the ultrasound machine estimated the baby to be 8.6 lbs... +/- 1.25 lbs. My doctor's professional opinion was that the baby is probably about 8 lbs right now. And babies over 9 lbs at delivery (which may or may not be the case with this one) come with an increased concern for issues during delivery. So, we have a follow-up appointment this week to discuss the possibilities. That added a bit of stress to my week that I wasn't expecting, but we're rolling with it. Saturday - more unpacking. The full rundown of the day are on the bebe blog, along with my mini-meltdown :)
Sunday we spent the day tracking down a mommy-mobile for me. It's a Mazda CX-9, and I sorta bought it. Errr... I got to drive it home, even though I didn't actually pay for it. Can someone PLEASE explain to me why buying a car takes so freakin' long? We had settled on the car and price within 15 minutes of walking in the door, and then spent the next 2 hours and 15 minutes waiting to deal with the "finance guy", who was with another customer. At 5 pm I said "he's got 5 minutes to get out here or I'm leaving." At which point the salesperson was like "I'm gonna give you my dealer plate so you can drive it home and then come back at your convenience tomorrow." So Monday morning I went in first thing, and was out the door 15 minutes later.
Coming to a new doctor 3 weeks before your due date results in a lot more doctor appointments than I anticipated. I had 2 last week, as well as a tour of the hospital, and 2 this week, along with another trip to the hospital so they can tell me about epidurals. And mountains of paperwork. Yesterday I started the day with a glucose test to see how well my body processes sugar. Brynna was an angel for the 2 hours it took us to get in, drink the goop, then wait to get blood drawn. Of course, when we arrived back home I realized she also had some nice fever action going on. The rest of the afternoon was spent with her napping or watching TV, and I actually did manage to get some Work done. Today I called in an emergency favor from Gary and dropped Brynna off for the day so I can be on a customer call for the afternoon.
Anyway, the day by day breakdown is getting tedious. But suffice to say, it's been really busy here. I finally feel like I've gotten over all the big hurdles - Brynna starts actual daycare tomorrow morning - which will allow me to Work a bit more before bebe comes. I wish I didn't have to, but I know I'll be happy for it on the other side of maternity leave when I can squeeze in a few more days. Also, I left a few loose ends since I was counting on this work time. Bad idea. Terrible. No help for it now...
The weather here is insanely awesome. I forgot how fabulous fall in Florida is. We went swimming this weekend! Haven't been to the beach yet...
