Fundraisered out
Listen people, if you have no idea when my birthday is, haven't been to any event I've ever planned, don't know the name of my first-born child, or in some other way register as a "casual acquaintance", don't ask me for money! I just received the 18th (18TH!!!!) request to donate my money to someone's event/race/charity flesh auction. It's annoying!
And of course, with this comes the guilt of not giving back to the community, so I just signed up for a monthly donation to the Boston Food Bank and Catholic Relief Services. Take that you event training fools!
(I know, I myself have asked for money in the past. I usually inflict it only on my true friends, because I would do the same for them. It's just that I feel that things like running a marathon should be done for personal fulfillment, not guilt-inducingness.)
And now, to up the jerk factor, I remember that I promised people hand-written cards if they donated $5 to me a few months ago, and I totally forgot. Way to be.
