Bleh

I have a monster cold. My head is pounding, my nose is running, my throat hurts... but I came into work today because I didn't want to sit home one more day. That was a silly thing to do. I can't seem to care about accomplishing anything :( And my coworkers probably wished I stayed home :)

Monday night we went to look at an apartment and I had the most ridiculous experience with the realtor who was showing it to us. Matt and I were supposed to meet him outside, and when we walk up (with Brynna in the stroller) he pulls up in his truck and starts yelling "you lied to me! you lied to me!".
I was like, "What?!?!!"
"YOU SAID THIS APARTMENT WAS JUST FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND."
I was really confused then I looked at Brynna and was like "Um, is this about the baby? I thought you were just asking if we were going to have another roommate...." And then after a minute I think, "Is this about deleading? Is the apartment not deleaded and that's why you're freaking out?"
"NO! You lied to me!" And drives off. It was very very weird.
So then we turned to walk back home and Shakes meets up with us (he was going to check out the apartment too) and I start telling him the story... then the realtor pulls up next to us and is like "I'm sorry, but I don't like being lied to. The apartment is deleaded and I can still show it to you"
At which point I said "And I don't like being called a liar by a really unprofessional man. I thought you were asking if we had another roommate, not whether we had a kid."
R:"Sorry, it was a miscommunication. Would you like to see the place?"
B: "I guess I can put my pride aside for a minute to go look at it."

So we do, but the whole time I'm fuming inside while he tries to make nice. Even if it was the nicest apartment ever I don't think I would rent it from that crazy man.

:) And that's the beginning of what I'm sure will prove to be a wild apartment hunt. *Sigh* I was really proud of myself for not freaking out back and for going to see the place anyway :)

  1. Holy Batman, that is bizarre! What on earth got him so personally offended! A normal reaction would be "Oh, I didn't realize you had a baby. Let me make sure that's okay with the landlord."

    WEIRDO!

  2. Realtors can't discriminate against you for having a baby - good to know and might explain why he came back to show you the place anyway. Totally crazy reaction, though! Good thing the place wasn't amazing, you would have had a tough choice to make....

  3. Yikes. Would he be involved (as the property manager or something) if you *did* end up renting it? If he's with a real estate company, you should request another agent for future dealings. :)
