Day 19

Only 3 more days left of this challenge.  I won't miss the pre-6 am wakeup!

Some things I figured out about the timing of this:

  • If my alarm goes off at 5:40, I don't realistically begin for 15 or 20 minutes.  That's how long it takes me to get dressed, brush teeth, make a cup of coffee, settle in.  Who knew that would take so long??
  • If I'm just exercising to get the blood flowing (10 push ups, 10 squats, 15 abs: 3x), my routine only takes about 40 minutes.  I guess I could read for longer, but even though MREI is useful, it's not that engaging.
I have decided to continue with this, although who knows for how long.  I'm going to push the wakeup to 6 am, and put a coffee maker in my "shoffice".  Now that I have an away space that I can go to and not wake up the family, I'm more excited about it.  Plus, if I know they're awake, I have lots of guilt about taking an hour for myself instead of helping with the morning routine.

2 days ago I wasn't able to exercise till the afternoon.  Around 4 pm, with kid pick-up looming and a night event planned, I realized I had to get out and go RIGHT THEN.  It was stressful.  All I could think about was all the stuff I had to do and how there wasn't enough time in the day.  That's when the usefulness of this "miracle morning" really sunk in.  By taking 40 minutes (or 60 if I run) in the morning to accomplish what I consider "nice to haves", I remove that stress and feeling of failure from later in the day.  So even though I'm yawning my face off right now, this month has been a success. :)

Morning in the shoffice

PS - I missed Day 18 because I was way too hungover.  Successful wine club = unsuccessful MM.
