Indoor Herb Garden
I love to cook, despite my limited time and the fact that I only get to do it (on a respectable scale) about twice a month. I especially love to cook with fresh herbs, and there is something about having my own herb garden that just makes me get all giggly inside. Chances are that I will kill it in about 3 weeks due to lack of water, but (despite my history) the dream still lives.
Our recent winter weather has made me think about where I can put one inside so that it can be a year-round thing. Guess what?! I have a space that gets used minimally and also gets a lot of natural light. Success!
The stairway that serves as access to my parents' space* gets tons of natural light during the day, so we put in a glass door to provide separation yet still let the light in. So excited to see these seeds grow grow grow! I bought eight pots and was initially going to build 2 shelves to sit them on, but then my Dad had the great idea of doing a planter box and brackets. The cost for both options was about $40, and I'm super happy with the turnout. The seeds themselves were about $2.00 per pack, so the whole shebang cost about $66 (brackets, planters, soil, and seeds).
*Last year we bought my parents' house and converted the downstairs to an in-law space. We have the top floor and (someday) a garage addition.
