Spring, Sprang, Sprung
I'm spending this Saturday morning lazing in my recliner with my cup of coffee. Pretty much my favorite way to start the weekend...
It's April 2013 - does anybody else think that times is just flying? The first quarter of this year has passed in a fog of work, but I'm on the other side of major insanity and feeling much better about life. Next week is my last work trip for a while - what am I going to do with all that free time at home?!? :) The weather in Florida is in the 80s and beautiful. The master bathroom, that 5 month long endeavor, is nearly complete. And I'm 24 weeks along - almost in the third trimester. Life feels full of potential and possibility, and it is a great feeling.
Focusing on the good stuff - this past week I had the honor of attending the Simmons Leadership Conference in Boston. Sallie Krawcheck and Judy Smith were 2 of the speakers, and both were fantastic. Regardless of whether or not I decide to pursue the executive lifestyle, it is always amazing to hear inspirational success stories. I get why biographies are such hot sellers; sometimes it's easy to feel like you are just 1 person and what you do doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. But hearing how a person can take truly ordinary every day experiences, and build them up a little bit at a time until they become some incredibly great person - it's awesome and inspiring.
The bigger highlight of my trip was probably having dinner with Monica and JFox, and catching up with Reegs. It's been a few months of complete introversion, and sitting down with old friends is so wonderful for the soul. And even though I love my little Florida house, I miss Boston. I stayed at the Omni hotel and managed to grab an hour of window shopping in Downtown Crossing (but didn't manage to make it to So Good, my absolute guilty pleasure.) I'm not sure if life will ever take us back there permanently, but hopefully I'll still find excuses to make work trips up there now and again. Happy Spring, peeps!
