A sonnet for the night

XXIX.
My love for you does not depend upon
Your love for me; it is complete abandon
Abandoning completion, love to stand on
And love to stand when Love must stand alone:
I love you in Love’s joy and past the ache
Of silent questions when “I love you” hints
Returning and receives an eloquence
Of silence in reply; destroys this heart
And every shattered part of it shall love
Enough to be another heart; shall move
In orbit ‘round the sun of you and make
The sum of us a universe; impart
To me the smallest part of you,
And we shall be a universe times two.

**I found this poem years and years ago, I cannot remember how. I loved it so deeply and instantly that the beautiful phrases have stuck with me for perhaps a decade. Tonight I was thinking about writing some poetry and found my attempts woefully lacking. I wanted to remember what it felt like to read amazing poetry. I dove into the interwebs to find this poem, and found it on one page. One lone google page. Mr. Ferryman, thank you for this piece of beauty (and all the other sonnets that go along with it.)

Deliberate. The adjective, not the verb.
