That's Life (That's what it is)
You would think moving to Florida would dominate my brain power right now, but interestingly enough, that's not the case. Nor is it the imminent arrival of Bebe #2 (although that becomes more and more ascendant as it becomes harder and harder to move like a normal person). Instead, I find myself in this state of mental suspension. On the edges of my consciousness are all these nagging thoughts clamoring to be let in, but the core of it is in a blissful state of calm. Muy interesante. I feel... mellow. That is not a word I ever would have imagined could be used to describe Beka.
That's not to say I'm in stasis. I have been making forward progress... we've gotten quotes for movers, we've booked a trip to Florida in 2 weeks to find an apartment, and I've got a plan for finding an OB, hospital, and daycare for Brynna. We've been doing fun things around Boston like going to see Cirque du Soleil and tomorrow I'm seeing Maroon 5 at the BOA Pavilion (woohooo!). I talked to my boss about Florida and got the approval to work from a home office there starting in January. We've made some attempts at selling big items on Craigslist so we don't have to move them (I've got a glass table, 3'x5', that makes a fabulous desk if you want it for $30!). And I finally got my iPad.
Let's talk a minute about the iPad... I freakin' love it. Up till now, I've resisted the Apple tsunami. No ipod, no Mac, no iphone for this Team Shea. We're quite content with our more reasonably priced devices that accomplish the same things. But since we had reached the breaking point of needing a second laptop in the house and a $400+ purchase was imminent, we decided to take the plunge. The thing that really sold me was watching Morgan play on Cathe's iPad. Not only could it keep up with delivering the web content in a tiny (sexy) little package, it's also insanely child friendly. I've had it about 1 week and I couldn't be happier. So if you're on the fence and you have $530 in your budget for it, Beka gives it 2 thumbs up! The only downside I've noticed so far is that it doesn't have a built in mic/webcam, so Skype is out. But since we happen to have a pretty good USB webcam, that isn't completely a problem... I just have to buy an adaptor to connect USB. They love to nail you on the accessories...
And look at my belly! And my awesome leopard print shoes! And my new darker red hair color! And my scary white legs!

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Apple cult :-) Just so you know, there actually is a Microphone in your iPad and Skype should work just fine ... but unfortunately the USB adapter only lets you hook up a still camera to import photos-- there's no way to hook up a webcam or do any kind of video conferencing as of yet ...
