Spring Mayhem!

This does a good job of summing up the craziness that always happens when the weather warms up... (An excerpt from an email)

Plans and parties and whatnot... Susie and I have been playing phone tag for like 2 weeks :) She's coming down in 2 weekends (Apr 24-25) and we promised a picnic event during the day. Then that evening is some Polish dance where Art will be in costume and doing traditional Polack dancing. Naomi and I were planning on going and heckling. :) In his own words:

"Given that you expressed interest in seeing me dance (perhaps jokingly? hopefully jokingly ;) two weeks from today, here's some more info. There are two opportunities to see me: at the NEFFA festival, which is in Mansfield, MA (where I-95 intersects I-495, south of Boston) and at the Polish dance (a "zabawa" : za-BAH-vah), a bit closer, in Quincy, which you have the Facebook Event invite for from Agnes/Celina. Unfortunately both cost money. NEFFA costs $25 on Saturday according to the website. And the Zabawa, is $35. What's a Zabawa? Supposedly the DJ will play one or two folk songs (a polka, a waltz or so) but mostly the music will be what younger people dance to in Poland; It's fast-tempo-ed, leave the Akon and 50cent dance moves at home but bring a strong desire to get spinned a lot. The Zabawa poster says "semi formal" which is slightly inaccurate because (according to Celina) guys won't necesarily be in suit jackets, but will be in buttoned shirts and ties to compliment the girls in nice dresses. So if you decide on coming to either, let me know. And if it's the zabawa, maybe we can get a few more of our peeps along for a table."

Then first weekend in May is the Ya Gotta Regatta in Buffalo. (yay! except for the drive. but YAY!) Matt and Shakes are still debating trying to find a canoe in lieu of kayaks, and don't believe my tales that they're sold out. Boys! I have 2 big dilemmas that weekend as I see it. 1) How not to freeze my butt off. and 2) What alcohol to bring to replace beer. It's looking like a flask of SoCo is in order. :)

Then Mal's and Susie's bdays and Mother's Day weekend during which I'll be packing up my apartment. Then the next weekend actually moving into our new apartment. Then the next weekend is Memorial Day and the McDevitt (5?) year anniversary, and Shake's bday.... Shakes Workout Challenge party on the 23rd in our mostly empty old (current) apartment. Sure to be a ridiculous event. Haven't heard of any other parties, but I'm sure there will be some.

I'm also training for the Holliston Lions Triathlon in June with my friend Heather, and I have an exam to take for work (LEED) on May 14th. Between those 2 things I may lose my sanity. But it's self-inflicted, and I kinda like it :P I haven't figured out how/if I'll cram my fiddling in. I think I may just slack until the LEED exam is over. Eilis will forgive me. :)

PS - my "To Do" list on the fridge is getting overwhelming. Last night I had to sit down and say to myself "Will it matter if the rug doesn't get vacuumed until tomorrow? No. Will it matter if the laundry doesn't get washed until tomorrow? No. Will it matter if I don't play my fiddle until tomorrow? Not really. Will it matter if I put off studying LEED one more day? Yes." And so that's how I figured out what to do with the end of my day.
