Made in America

I find that buying things Made in America is a difficult step in my life. I have become much more conscious of checking the labels, but... there are 2 things stopping me. 1) Greed. I would rather pay $120 than $150. I consider myself a thrifty shopper, always looking for the best price, regardless of where it was made. 2) Availability. So few things are actually made here anymore that when I see something I really want, it's not available from local sources.

And I guess there is a third reason as well. I feel little and powerless. I don't honestly believe that if I make the sacrifice to pay extra and buy things made here that it will make a difference. I don't believe that you or the next guy is going to do that same, so why bother?

Man that sucks. Fine, here's my pledge. In the next 30 days (and remember, this is Christmas season) I will not buy anything that is not made in America. Anybody else up for the challenge?

  1. Easy! I ain't got no money, honey, so I just won't buy anything! :)

I know how you feel. I face the same problems. Price and availability. It's nearly impossible to buy domestic.
