happy birthday to ME!
the fowler girls all managed to return in one piece from our 4 day cruise to the sunny carribean. i know, you're amazed. not only that, but we had a fabulous time. i thought for sure that when i saw our little cabin and bunkbeds, we were destined for a rumble or 2. apparently you CAN grow up and not fight with your sisters :) even though most of our time at sea was overcast and windy, that didn't stop us from having fun. lisa and i got to indulge our inner gambler, and lisa even managed to make the roullette table give her lots of money. i, on the other hand, chose the opposite route and gave my money to the tables. but i had a great time doing it and got to play texas hold 'em against actual people (who i suckered into believing i was a clueless girl. mwahahahahaha!)
when we weren't at the casino we were... EATING! i thought that not being able to drink would put a serious damper on my weekend, but having tasty food readily accessible (and sorta free!) mostly made up for it. we met some great guys at dinner on the first night and then made the honorary members of the fowler clan for the rest of the weekend. we hit up karaoke (apparently only rockstars karaoke on ships, but lisa and i showed them how to take it back with our "dying cat" stylings), a bad comedian and dance show, late night dancing until the wee hours, bingo, hot tubs, and MEXICO! while in mexico the weather decided to cut us a break. that's right, 90 degrees and sunny baby! we joined in a jeep caravan and drove around cozumel, saw some tiny ruins and a big ol' lighthouse, and then snorkeled our way along a reef. i just don't understand how those little fishies get so beautifully colored! then we lounged on the beach in our nicely shaded hammocks. life is GOOD!
that about sums up the cruise. when i returned home my fabulous husband had bought me pre-birthday flowers and put them around the house. tulips and sunflowers - how could i not be the luckiest girl ever? tuesday night he also arranged for a group of wonderful friends to celebrate my birthday with me playing trivia at king's. thanks to chris's amazing knowledge of world war II history, we even came in second place!
and that is why i'm having the best week ever. :)
