This past weekend Naomi and I roadtripped down to Philly (in the new car :)) to see WICKED! the musical. Elaine arranged a fabulous evening out on the town that started with 8 hot ladies dining on the waterfront in Manayunk and ended with 8 hot ladies getting their dance on at Fado in Philly. And in the middle we saw what (as of this moment) is my favorite musical. Now I've only seen about 3 non high-school related musicals in my life, but I'm confident that this one rates pretty high.
I went into it with pretty tepid expectations. I read the book a few months ago and wasn't all that sure it was going to turn into a great song and dance performance. Luckily, the plot was changed just enough for the stage, and the performers were so great, that it beat out all my expectations. The great thing about Wicked is that it shows you how much of life is about perception. Change your perspective and see what happens...
Which is what Naomi and I did on the way back up to MA. I realized that even though she and I have been friends since freshman year, my perception of her college career was spotty and inaccurate. It was fun to hear her recount our time at WPI from another point of view, and it made the drive fly by. Good times, good times.
Now I'm back at work, about to head home for a run and a bike ride before my 9 pm conference call with Japan. Boooooo!!!
Next weekend - another gallant adventure to the homestead to witness the nuptials of Sally and Evan. Woohoo!
