Too much to be contained in one post
Here's a little outline of what we're going to talk about today
1. A congratulations shout-out
2. What grinds my gears today
3. This weekend in review
1. Tis the season for baby making apparently. The Mellott family of San Diego is expecting a little bundle of joy sometime in March, therefore: CONGRATULATIONS! This is not to be confused with Beth Anne and Dave's stork arrival sometime around Christmas, or the McDevitt brainiac to be born around May. Nice to know the next generation is well on it's way.
2. Elaine sent out an email regarding her company's genius idea for a Christmas party. Or lack thereof. I'll excerpt a little for you:
"This year, in lieu of sponsoring office Holiday Parties, we plan on doing the following:
Each office may choose ONE charity and we will make a donation to that charity.
Please notify HR with the following information upon deciding your charity: How the check should be make payable, and the mailing address."
Of course the actual people working to make this company money were slightly upset by this. The attorney's offered to host their own Christmas party for their office and were told "Not on company time". As Elaine said: "Talk about a morale buster...don't get me wrong I am all for giving to charity, but we all know this is a tax write off!"
So, Stevens and Lee, here's my little Christmas shout-out to you, you greedy stupid people: YOU SUCK. Merry Christmas.
3. This weekend was wonderful. I was very proud of myself for not planning anything to do this weekend. Which allowed me to freeze my butt off while waiting 2 hours to see Guster for 30 minutes on Friday. It was totally worth it, but if you had told me how long I would have waited beforehand, I would have said NO WAY! They were doing a Toys for Tots concert where everyone who brought a toy got to see them. They cycled in about 100 people, played 5 songs, cycled in 100 more. We were the third group to go in and we were right in front of the stage. I mean, RIGHT THERE! Like 2 feet away from Adam and 5 feet from Ryan. Awesome.
Saturday I woke up at like 10 and then spent the entire day leisurely organizing the apartment. It was so nice not to be in a rush to get somewhere or do something! Saturday night we went to TKE's Christmas party and met all the new members. Wow drunkenness. The Freshman were soooo drunk, and I realize we're finally the old people when the '03 alums are walking around giving people beer cans filled with water so that they don't die. It was nice to meet the Shea "family" though and actually remember their names.
Yesterday I took a good chunk out of my Christmas shopping list and got to wrap some presents for under the tree. Then Matt and Shakes and I went walking around the city and stopped and had some fondue and dessert at a random restaurant. Very chill and nice to just sit around and talk. I think I'm beginning to prefer that much more than rowdy parties… OLD! I'M GETTING OLD! :)
The End.
