a much better place

I was in a bad place when i wrote my last entry, but i'm in a much better one now (home) so i feel the need to overcome the negativity.

i love my house. i love my husband. i love my kitties. i love being able to talk on the phone whenever i want :) i love that my friends came down to visit last weekend. here's the executive summary of the "Virginia is for Friends" weekend:

The most important part would be, of course, PICTURES :) As you can see, there's quite a few of bayroot because i just love that game. It all began Thursday evening when Ryan and Cathe came in to town and we introduced them to Cranium (a theme throughout the weekend)... Naomi and John arrived sometime Friday afternoon to kick off the bayroot festivities, and Shakes and Kristin made it in way after the drunkenness had set in. (I took lessons from Vegas and didn't even pretend that I would be sober enough to pick them up. We all know I lie when it comes to alcohol and moderation...) The boys were then forced to play Edward 40-hands, but of course we only bought 4 40s instead of 8, and we didn't have any duct tape. Good thing I'm such a creative girl. The night ended in a blur some time in the wee wee hours...

Saturday we wandered over to the beach where crazy Naomi, Matt, and John braved the 60 degree water (crazy i say!) and then in the evening went out to dinner followed by some more bayroot/cranium/drunk dials and ended sometime in the wee wee hours,

Sunday I had to work (boo) but i hear that the day didn't really begin until 2 pm :) Ryan and Shakes got to visit the ghost town version of an aircraft carrier, a trip to the Air/Space museum in Hampton (I was told Ryan makes an excellent tour guide) and then I heard something about deep conversations and cheesy pasta. My neighbors said something about lingerie pillow fights, but since there is no picture evidence I'll have to believe my friends.

Monday everyone began the trek home, interspersed with food and good conversation, and X-Men 3 for some of us :) We never did make it to the fair (boo) or get around to the power hour (babies) but all in all, the weekend was an overwhelming success. It looks like Labor Day weekend may turn into another ridiculously festive time in VA (except for the 2 hours of half marathonage), so if you couldn't make it this weekend (and even if you did) you're more than welcome to try again!

(Later I promise I'll send out the Shea House Rules for Bayroot, but there's at least a picture or 2 of them that is hilarious - thanks Cathe!)

Hope I didn't forget anything or anyone -- miss you guys!!
